Some folks are raising awareness for a program that helps women through challenging times -- with a bike ride.

Saturday, more than 20 bikers participated in the Ride for Hope motorcycle ride starting in Endicott, and ending in Vestal with an open house featuring live music and a barbecue. The event also raises money towards the Hope Teen Challenge Program. The faith-based program guides women ages 17 and older dealing with difficulties in life such as drug addiction and emotional problems by educating them, teaching them job skills and providing other life skills.

"A number of our supporters belong to the Christian Motorcycle Association. And they thought it would be a good way of supporting the ministry, as well as making our ministry known to bikers," said President of Hope Teen Challenge Richard Mecklenborg.

More than $300 in proceeds were raised Saturday which will go towards assisting costs of the Hope Teen Challenge Program.
