Vestal needs big effort against top team in state
After winning their first Section Title since 1999 the Vestal Golden Bears have the toughest matchup in the state tournament as they take on Albertus Magnus in the Sub-Regionals. Albertus Magnus is ranked first in New York State in Class A.
While the Bears did win the Class A Section Title, they needed to do it in comeback fashion, down by ten at the half. If they want to make a run at a state title, it will take a huge effort to get to the next round.
"We need to push ourselves even further than we did [Friday], said Alani Gallagher. "I think we can really accomplish it. I think we can go even further than regionals. I'm just so happy for all of us, I'm really excited."
"It's going to take a lot better first half going down to Purchase college next week because we play a very good Albertus Magnus team," said Head Coach Joe Reynolds. "The environment is going to be a lot more harsh than anything we're usually used to. If we come out strong, we can play with anybody."
Vestal travels to SUNY Purchase for Tuesday's 7:00 tip off.
