Don't go buzzing around the beehive without the proper technique ....

Saturday The Southern Tier Beekeeper's Association teamed up with Cornell Cooperative Extension to host an advanced beekeeping class.

The class is geared toward second year beekeepers and included tips anywhere from hive increasing to queen management to honey trapping and all for just $30 a person.

Sue Garing, Treasurer of Beekeepers Club said, "A lot of our members have bees because they have big vegetable gardens or fruit trees. That's how I began. And I had fruit that needed pollination. Some people just want to save the bees. They find them fascinating and they are."

The course also includes a follow-up hands on session scheduled for the springtime. For more information head over to southerntierbeekeepers.org.
