The new year means new faces in local government. Many local politicians were sworn into office yesterday

Sheriff Dave Harder, Family Court Judge Richard Miller and Broome County Legislators took the oath of office at the Broome County forum. This marks the fifth and final term for Sheriff Harder. He says he's grateful for those who have supported him for over 50 years.

"I'll probably look for another job someplace. But I've got to stop; I'll be 77 when I finally finish up. I will have 54 years on the job and it's mostly been a great, great opportunity and a lifetime achievement of mine," said Sheriff Dave Harder, Broome County Sheriff.

Harder says his main focus is combatting what he calls a serious heroin problem in our area. He is also looking to outfit deputies with body cameras.
