With both the prosecution and judge calling the crime one of the most brutal they had ever seen, Christopher Davis was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his downstairs neighbor Patricia LaCaprara at their Brown Street house in Johnson City on July 8th, 2013. Before Davis was sentenced, LaCaprara's sister spoke directly to her killer.

"I want you to say, 'I'm sorry,' though it won't make a difference. We wish you were going to be taken from this earth. You have changed everything," said Suzanne Williams, Patricia LaCaprara's sister.

Davis was found guilty of first degree murder, second degree murder and first degree robbery. Broome County District Attorney Gerald Mollen quoted the doctor who conducted the autopsy on LaCaprara as saying her injuries were the most brutal he had seen since he had worked at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11.

"I try not to anticipate any sentence but it's a well-deserved sentence. That's all I can say. The judge did the right thing," said Mollen.

"His one act of brutality changed the lives of everybody, not just us, not just himself but his family, just everyone," said Williams.

Those who knew LaCaprara, who assisted in trauma surgery at Wilson Hospital, remembered her as a devoted friend and relative.

"She was the person who every mother and father and sister and friend wants. She was a good person. She was honest. She was devoted to everybody, her friends, her family, a devotion that most of us don't always give," said Williams.
