A new poll from Siena College takes a look at how New York voters view Governor Kathy Hochul.

"The good news is that her favorability and her job approval rating are up a little bit for the second consecutive poll," said Steven Greenberg, a Siena College pollster. "The bad news for Governor Hochul is that both are measures are what I would say, underwater."

According to the latest poll, 39% view Hochul favorably while 49% see her unfavorably. Meanwhile 46% of respondents approve of the job Hochul is doing while 49% disapprove. Hochul has improved in both metrics since a poll in October where 36% saw her favorably compared to 51% unfavorably while 41% approved of her job performance compared 51% disapproval in that previous poll.

834 registered New York State voters were polled. Among the things they were asked: Would you vote to re-elect Hochul or prefer "someone else" as governor?

"Only 33% of New Yorkers right now say they're prepared to re-elect Governor Hochul," said Greenberg. "57%, a clear strong majority, say they would prefer someone else."

Greenberg continued:  "Over the course of the next year and a half leading up to what is likely to be a Democratic primary for governor and in the next almost two years leading up to the general election for governor, Governor Hochul has her work cut out for her."
