Car Engulfed by Fire in Town of Kirkwood

UPDATE Jan. 25, 2022 1 p.m.:
A NY State Trooper was dispatched by Broome County 911 at approximately 8:40 p.m. Monday night to Zimmer Road, in the town of Kirkwood, for a report of a vehicle on fire. Five Mile Point Fire Department arrived on scene with Kirkwood Fire crews to extinguish the flames. Kirkwood Fire Department tells Fox 40 there were three propane tanks in the car. They did not explode, but there were leaking propane - adding to the fire. There were no injuries.

Late Monday night Kirkwood Fire Department responded to a car fire on Zimmer Road in the Town of Kirkwood.
Neighbors and other people on scene reported that the car was fully engulfed in flames, and reportedly saw responders removing a propane tank from the vehicle.
Fox 40 reached out to Kirkwood Fire for details, but were told the investigation is still ongoing. Stay with Fox 40 for the latest in the coming days.
