Man Sentenced To 13 Years For Drug And Weapon Charges

Kawon E. Imes was sentenced Friday morning to 13 years in prison, and five years’ parole, for drug and weapon charges, for a February 2019 domestic incident. He was indicted by a grand jury in April 2019 and found guilty at trial in October 2019.
Prosecutors proved during the October trial that Imes possessed a loaded semi-automatic pistol, which he used to threaten his former girlfriend’s life, and her family’s life, during a domestic incident. He was also convicted for possessing drugs, with the intent to sell. Imes relocated to Johnson City from Queens.
“If you bring drugs and guns into Broome County you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said District Attorney Michael A. Korchak. “Broome County is safer with Kawon Imes in New York State prison.”
He was indicted by a Grand Jury on April 11, 2019.
The Johnson City Police and New York State Police also assisted with the case.
