Binghamton Fire Department and Police Department went head to head in a friendly competition Thursday, who could donate the most blood.

At the Quint 3 Fire Station, the American Red Cross set up their stations as firemen and policemen came in to donate blood.

When a member from either department came into the station they signed in on a sheet for whichever department they were apart of. Whichever had more members participating won the Battle of the Badges.

While there is a competition between the two departments, everyone is welcome to stop by and donate blood to help the cause.

Binghamton Firefighter, Chris Mallery says, "You can actually save up to three lives with your donation today, it's free. I mean you get a snack out of the deal you're helping your community out. As Firefighters and Police Officers as well we are out there helping people every day and this is a chance for us to help people off the job".

Winner of the Battle of the Badges gets bragging rights for a whole year.
