Two Dogs Recovering After Being Thrown Out Of Vehicle On I-81
UPDATE 5:45 P.M - DECEMBER 13, 2018
State Police have told Fox 40 that they believe the vehicle that threw two dogs out of the window on Interstate 81 is a dark colored, older model Dodge Durango with rust on the rear side right under the hatch.
State Police said the dogs were seen being thrown out of the rear passenger window, which may suggest that more than one person was involved in committing the crime.
Anyone with information regarding the person or persons responsible for throwing the two dogs out of a moving vehicle is asked to call State Police at (607) 547-2233.

'Trooper,' one of the dogs thrown out of a vehicle Wednesday morning on I-81, is heading to surgery where veterinarians will attempt to save both his legs, according to an update on The Broome County Humane Society Facebook page.
The post reads:
"We have a "Trooper" update! He is going into surgery very soon! They will be attempting to save both of his legs. He is in GREAT HANDS and we are grateful for the continued support we are getting to help cover his medical expenses. The costs are going to continue to rise and all donations are greatly appreciated.
Trooper has a long road ahead of him and after surgery will require extensive care for his recovery. Once we have all of specifics about his recovery needs we will be happy to have discussions with serious foster families when that information becomes available! Thank you again for your ongoing support!"

The Broome County Humane Society are treating two dogs after they were thrown out of a moving vehicle on I-81 Wednesday morning.
A truck driver going southbound between Marathon and Whitney Point saw a dark colored SUV slow down around 9:30 a.m. before tossing the dogs out of the window.
The truck driver identified as Adam pulled over to attend to the dogs. Shortly, after troopers noticed a semi truck pulled over with its door open, that's when they found Adam and the two injured dogs and began giving the dogs aid before the Broome County Humane Society arrived at the scene, according to state troopers.
Troopers administered first aid to one of the dogs, putting a splint on one of his legs, stopping the dog's bleeding, and keeping it warm with blankets as they waited for the Humane Society to arrive.
According to the Broome County Humane Society, one dog, who's been named 'Trooper' in honor of his rescuers, was severely injured. The other one, named 'Adam' in honor of the truck driver who first attended to them, seems to be in good condition.
The Humane Society said "As of right now we know that "Trooper" has a compound fracture of his distal radius and ulna on one front leg and a hairline fracture of the ulna on the other front leg. He has lung contusions and broken ribs and he has a contusion on his shoulder that is into the joint. X-rays are being sent to an Orthopedic Specialist for further evaluation. He is being provided with medication to keep him comfortable as his condition is being assessed. Send positive positive thoughts for this poor fella!!!!"
Trooper has been taken to Colonial Veterinary Hospital in Ithaca for emergency veterinary care.

According to State Police, the truck driver is from Syracuse and preferred to not speak with the media. They say the truck driver was a dog owner and was angered by the situation.
State Police said the truck driver has a dash cam in his truck and waiting for the footage to be sent to see if the incident was captured on camera.
