The Whitney Point School District is addressing concerns after a student was arrested Thursday for making threatening comments on a school bus.

According to a Facebook post by the District, the comments were made on the bus ride home after school Thursday.

The "comments of concern" were reported to police, and the student was later arrested.

No weapons were found, and the District says there was no threat to students during the school day.

"The Whitney Point Central School District appreciates your concerns and we work each day to keep our students safe. Because the recent arrest of a Whitney Point student is a police matter, we are limited to what we are to say. We can tell you that there was no threat during the school day on Thursday and police were present at all schools in the area only in response to the Florida incident."

An ambulance was at the school Thursday afternoon due to a student's health issue, unrelated to the incident.

The District Attorney's Office and New York State Police are handling the incident.
