A 25-year-old female is believed to have sustained a serious head injury in a car accident in Cortland County.

At 6:05 p.m. the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-car accident on Bennie Road in the Town of Cortlandville.

A 19-year-old male was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elandra when it collided with a 2003 Chevoret Malibu, driven by a 66-year-old male.

It appears the driver of the Elantra, who was driving east on Bennie Road, lost control causing the vehicle to spin into the oncoming lane into the path of the Malibu which was traveling west.

Weather and road conditions are believed to have contributed to the cause of the accident.

The 19-year-old male driver and his 25-year-old female passenger were both injured in the accident and transported by TLC Ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse.

The 66-year-old driver of the Malibu had sustained minor injuries. He was not transported to the hospital.

The Cortlandville Fire Department was assisting at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
